2 Horsepower and spins at 240 MPH!

Just over a year ago I finally purchased a Vitamix. I first saw it at a trade show around 1997 and loved the demo, everything was fantastic except the $800 price tag! The $800 made me think twice and hold off and apparently contemplate the unit for 10 years! Besides basic smoothies, this appliance makes ice cream and hot soup. Ice cream is easily made because the TWO HORSEPOWER motor easily crushes ice; soup is made as the two horsepower also creates an abundance of friction, and in 4-5 minutes, steamed vegetables are a thick puree.

I would say the coolest thing we've met yet is home made peanut butter. 4 cups of peanuts, 2 table spoons of olive oil and 60 seconds. It was smooth, not salty and no preservatives.

We have routinely used it 3-4 times a week, so it was a sound investment.

Our next project is mayonnaise, I'll let you know how that turned out.
